After clinching a share of its second straight Arrowhead Conference title, the Carl Sandburg College volleyball team has moved up in the final NJCAA Division II rankings of the season.

The Chargers (31-11 overall, 9-1 Arrowhead) jumped up two spots to No. 18 in this week’s rankings, released Monday afternoon. It’s the fourth week in a row Sandburg has been nationally ranked. The Chargers were 20th, 17th and 18th the last three weeks, respectively, as well as 20th in the preseason.

Sandburg’s lone match last week was a sweep at Black Hawk to close the regular season and give the Chargers their first back-to-back conference championships in 32 years.

Sandburg will look to earn its third straight trip to the NJCAA Division II Championship when it plays in this weekend’s Region IV District B tournament at Lake County. The Chargers open with the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. Saturday against the host Lancers. The semifinals and finals will be played Sunday in Grayslake.
